Artistic DirectorLily is a sensitive and vibrant violinist who spent her earliest years sleeping underneath the piano to the soundscapes of Debussy, and being in despair about how her thumbs weren’t the same length as her fingers. This combination of music as a bedrock of comfort and a strong curiosity to question life’s most challenging findings, has led her to pursue music as a life-long endeavour.
As a young teenager, she was taken under the wing of Dr. Robin Wilson for five years, three of which were spent establishing her artistic foundation at the Australian National Academy of Music. During this chapter, Lily experienced success in multiple competitions throughout Australia, the highlight being a finalist in the Young Performer Awards in 2017, where she took home a collection of awards including Best Recital, Audience Choice Award, and the Nelly Apt Scholarship. After gathering invaluable musical experiences across Europe in 2018, including one year of study at Hanns Eisler in Berlin, she commenced her studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in 2019, where she had the pleasure of learning with the renowned quartet teacher Rainer Schmidt until her graduation in 2024. Lily also cherishes the ongoing mentorship from her former chamber music teacher at the Mozarteum, Cibrán Sierra-Vázquez. Having a soft spot for ensemble work, her most recent highlights include being invited to play with the Camerata Salzburg throughout the 2023-24 season, as well as being adopted into the team of Camerata Bern for the 2024-25 season, involving leading from the violin alongside the effervescent Patricia Kopatchinskaja. Lily continues to play as a guest with other outstanding ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and she aspires to further dedicate herself to delve into the joys and challenges of chamber music and community-based artistic collaboration. |
